Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

At what point in my pregnancy should I attend antenatal classes?

Attending a course that finishes around a month to 6 weeks before your due date would be ideal. This means the information will be recent and it also increases the chance of the group all having babies of similar ages.

Does my registration include my partner?

Absolutely. Your partner, a friend, whanau member – anyone who is in your support team can attend with you. Due to space we can only fit you and one other in the class though.

Is food provided?

There will be a supper provided with a coffee, tea or milo and a biscuit. If you are attending a whole day class, you will need to bring your own lunch or alternatively there are plenty of cafés nearby. Sometimes the group all has lunch together on the second Saturday of the course.

What happens if I miss a class?

Classes are interactive and facilitated in person.  Our facilitators may send out some summary notes and they may set up a Facebook page for your group with research based information links to follow up on.  It is not possible to Zoom in to an in-person class. Although if one partner attends , they can facetime you into the group via their mobile device if that works for you.

What are the payment options?

Payment is by online banking. Bank account details will be included in your booking form emailed to you.  A receipt of payment will be issued within a few days after payment shows in our account.

Can I transfer to a different course?

We have classes in Papanui, Cashmere or Lincoln. It’s fine to transfer, but please do so as soon as possible to make sure there is space in the class you would like to transfer to. Contact your facilitator to arrange the transfer for you.

Are there online classes?

We do not offer classes online, unless there are situations that necessitate the need to do so e.g. Covid lock downs, venue issues, the odd evening if a facilitator is not well enough to do a face to face class but is able to offer a zoom class for that session.

Do I need to attend all sessions of my antenatal course?

We understand that life happens and that you may need to miss a class.  Our facilitators may send out some summary notes and they may set up a Facebook page for your group with research-based information links to follow up on.

We would love you to attend as many classes as possible so  you can receive all the information you need. You will also be able to ask questions as specific topics are covered.

What is the cancellation policy?

Up to 30 days before your course starts, we will refund, less a 5% administration fee. Within 30 days of your class starting (due to short notice to fill your place in the course) we are only able to provide a refund in compassionate circumstances

Christchurch ParentEd Centre has the right to cancel courses 6 weeks prior to the class starting due to the minimum number of participants required not being met for that course. We will do our best to ensure that you have an option of attending another Christchurch ParentEd Centre course at a similar time if there is availability. If that is not possible , a full refund will be provided.

Christchurch ParentEd centre also has the right to merge or change course dates due to above. The change or merge will be within 30 days prior to the class start date.
